Korantina Homes proudly participated in the 15th Nicosia Economic Congress, with General Manager Ms. Melina Rafti taking part in a forward-thinking roundtable discussion alongside other prominent figures in the real estate and construction sector. The session, titled “Young Entrepreneurs in Dialogue with the Minister of Interior,” focused on the future of land development in Cyprus amid ongoing reforms and restructuring. Notably, the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, was also present, emphasising the importance of open dialogue. The prospects and challenges shaping the future of the Cypriot economy and entrepreneurship were at the centre of a discussion between the new generation of entrepreneurs and the President, who announced the launch of a formal consultation with millennial business entrepreneurs.
During the discussion, Minister of Interior Mr. Constantinos Ioannou emphasized the government’s commitment to improving licensing procedures and urban planning frameworks, highlighting the implementation of 22 specific measures aimed at easing the burden on local planning authorities and accelerating approvals. The Minister also discussed the advancement of housing policy through urban planning incentives and highlighted the positive impact of the Build to Rent scheme.
Representing Korantina Homes, Ms. Melina Rafti welcomed the reforms but also offered constructive feedback. She pointed out that while progress is evident, delays in licensing continue to challenge competitiveness. She proposed allowing private sector management of older pending applications and called for the removal of bureaucratic hurdles, such as the so-called “2026 issue”.
Ms. Rafti acknowledged improvements—such as reducing approval times to around 60–80 days—but emphasized that broader coordination is essential. She underlined the need for increased staffing and support in key departments like the Fire Service and the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC), which significantly impact the pace of development.
Her insights reflect Korantina Homes' dedication to excellence in real estate development and helping shape the future of the industry in Cyprus. The company remains committed to fostering dialogue and supporting reforms that promote a more efficient, transparent, and competitive sector.
As a trusted voice in development, Korantina Homes continues to stand at the forefront of progress, offering exceptional projects and contributing meaningfully to Cyprus' evolving economic landscape.
